How to get to Mavra Volia Beach
The beach is located southwest of the city of Chios, around 30 kilometers, and is very near Emporios Village and 5km from Pyrgi Village. The cheapest way to get from Chios to Mavra Volia is by bus. The quickest way to get to the beach is a taxi which costs approximately 30 euros and can get you there in 30 minutes. The other option is to rent a car, and the prices vary between car rentals.
Things to do near Mavra Volia Beach
Emporios Village is a small port isolated from the other larger villages nearby. Its name originated from this port’s significant commercial traffic related to the Mastiha production. It is a place of historical importance.
The most impressive findings were the ruins of around 50 houses of fine architecture. Remains from prehistoric times were found. Inside the walls, the temple of Athena was revealed by the archaeologists, a palace and paths carved or built on the rocks towards the mountain of Profitis Elias.
While you are there, don’t forget to visit the remains of the Medieval Castle and Dotia, an overgrown area with mastic trees. In the village, you can find tavernas and rooms to let. That way, you can spend the whole day or even more than one day exploring this part of the island.
