Best Beaches to Visit in Poros Island
Kanali Beach
Kanali is among the most visited beaches in Poros, sandy, long, and with beautiful azure waters. It overlooks the stunning Myrtoo Pelagos. The beach is organized by a beach bar offering breakfast options, as well as traditional Mediterranean cuisine for those eager to experience. You can order and enjoy your drink or food at the sun lounges, protected by umbrellas while enjoying the sea.
You can get to Kanali Beach by walking 10 minutes from the center, right after the Navy base.
Askeli Beach
Askeli is one of the best beaches in Poros and perhaps the most visited. It has a sandy shore, ideal for sunbathing and relaxing, and stunning turquoise waters. There is lush pine vegetation behind the settlement, and the beach has some free umbrellas offered by the Poros Municipal Port Organization. Of course, there is also free space to sit and enjoy the sun.
There are plenty of amenities nearby, including cafes and restaurants to grab something to eat or drink. In addition, the beach offers a beach volleyball court, showers, changing rooms, and restrooms. Monastiri Beach
A little further away from Askeli, you can find another top beach in Poros. Monastiri is a small pebbly bay amidst thick vegetation under the Monastery of Zoodochos Pigi, where it takes its name from. It is a lovely beach with contrasting vibrant green pines and deep cobalt blue waters. It overlooks the Peloponnese.
There is a small canteen at the beach, but there is also free space for those who wish to enjoy its peace and pristine nature. There are sunbeds and umbrellas in the organized section, and you can find something to eat or drink. The beach is not very long, so keep this in mind to avoid the crowds by getting there early. You can also visit the Monastery if you like to get a glimpse of the religious traditions of the area.
Mikro Neorio Beach
You can find Mikro Neorio Beach right after the bridge to the west side of the island. It is among the best beaches in Poros thanks to its endless sun and very calm waters, protected by waves. The background is a thick pine forest that almost touches the shore.
Luckily, you can also find a canteen there with sunbeds and umbrellas, so there is some shade to enjoy your day there. There is also plenty of room to bask in the sun with your own things.
You can get there by road, bypassing the bridge to the West. It is the first beach you come across.
Megalo Neorio Beach
As its name suggests, this beach is connected to Mikro Neorio Beach. They are in fact separated by a headland, forming two bays. As Mikro Neorio, Megalo Neorio also has thick golden sand and calm waters to enjoy your swim. The pine trees are also present here, but so are the anchored boats that give you the perfect setting to relax with a view.
Beach bars are offering their services here, including sunbeds, umbrellas, and tasty snacks. There are also taverns nearby to try traditional Mediterranean dishes with fresh fish. You can reach the beach quite easily by road, just after Mikro Neorio beach going further west.
Love Bay Beach
One of the most stunning beaches in Poros is Love Bay beach, a small cove amidst thick vegetation with crystal-clear calm waters and an idyllic Chapel at the end of the beach.
The shore is mostly sandy, and the waters are shallow and turquoise! It is the ideal place to relax and enjoy your swim. It is organized, and you will find umbrellas and sunbeds. You can get something refreshing to drink or grab a snack to eat. You can also use the shower and the WC throughout your stay. For those eager to go on an adventure, there are also canoe rental options.
To get to Love Bay, you can come by road, or walk shortly from Neorio. You can also find a taxi to get you there or a boat.
Russian Bay Beach
Considered the best beach in Poros, the Russian Bay is 1,5 km away from Neorio. It’s a place of historical significance, as it was the place where the Russian ships docked. It is just opposite the small islet of Daskalio.
It’s a beautiful beach with golden sand and greenish-blue waters, ideal for a refreshing swim. It is generally protected from the winds, so you won’t find waves here. Part of the beach is organized by a beach bar, offering sunbeds, umbrellas, drinks, and snacks.
There are many facilities, including a beach volleyball court. Conveniently, the beach bar also offers boat delivery to the docked vessels within the bay. The rest of the sandy beach is unorganized, and you can enjoy your day unbothered at the other end of the bay.
To get to Russian Bay beach, you can simply use the road passing from Neorio going westwards.
Gerolimani Beach
One of the most remote beaches in Poros is Gerolimani Beach, nestled among thick pine trees. It is ideal for nature lovers who wish to enjoy pristine landscapes away from the crowds and the fuss. The beach forms two heart-shaped bays, sandy with shallow crystal-clear waters.
It is not organized, so grab your own towel and an umbrella perhaps, and don’t forget your snacks and water. There is a small islet opposite the beach, which is reachable by swimming. For hiking enthusiasts, you can walk 15 to 20 minutes to Dana Lighthouse, one of the most known sights on the island.
To get there, you can park along the road and walk for less than 5 minutes.
Vagionia Beach
Another top beach in Poros, Vagionia is located on the northeastern part of the island, overlooking Attica from afar. A pine forest surrounds the lovely bay of fine gravel. The waters are very clear and deep, and the seabed is full of large pebbles and stones.
There is a small canteen operating here during the summer months, but it is always less crowded and more remote than other beaches. You can still see some boats anchored here since this beach is protected and a good spot to moor.
On the northern side of the beach, you can find the ruins of an ancient sunken city, and you can still see the roads. To get to the beach, you won’t find any public transportation, so you either have to get here by private vehicle taxi, or boat.
Aghios Stefanos Beach
Aghios Stefanos is a beach located in the Spheria part of the island, east and overlooking the Aegean. It is a small pebbly beach with clear waters and amenities such as a shower, changing rooms, a restroom, a boardwalk to the sea, and SEATRAC-certified access for people with disabilities. It is a great place to chill as it doesn’t get very crowded, and access is easy via road.
