11 Amazing Samos Beaches to Visit
Livadaki Beach
Among the best beaches in Samos is Livadaki Beach, located 13 km from the capital, Vathy. It looks like a tropical paradise with turquoise, and serene waters, which are also shallow and very kid-friendly. The cove is hidden among rocky cliffs and palm trees, protected from most winds and open seas.
The beach has sand and it is organized, with a beach bar, sunbeds, umbrellas, and good music. It is relatively small so it can get crowded, but it is very well-organized!
You can get there by car, but there are about 3 km of dirt road, so keep this in mind if you have a conventional vehicle.
Glikorisa Beach
Glikorisa is another top-organized beach in Samos, located in front of the homonymous hotel. It is located in Pountes, close to Pithagoreion town.
The sandy cove (partly pebbly) has the most beautiful waters combined with countless amenities from the hotel to the beach bars and restaurants nearby. You can find sunbeds and umbrellas there, as well as drinks and refreshments or something to eat. There are also showers and changing rooms, as well as a playground for children.
You can access Glikorisa beach by car via Pythagoreio, following the road to Samos town and turning left after 2.5 km. You will find ample parking space for free here thanks to the facilities.
Mykali Beach
Mykali is a wonderful beach in Samos, located 8 km south of the capital. It is a long pebbly shore of about 3 km with medium-depth, mirror-like waters.
It is yet another organized beach, with sunbeds, parasols, and other amenities for tourists and beachgoers. You can also try out different water sports or simply relax and sunbathe. Even if the beach is considered touristy, the area around still retains an unspoiled natural landscape of great beauty and lush vegetation.
There is very good access to the beach, so getting there won’t be a problem.
Psili Ammos Beach (close to Mykali Beach)
Just after the long shore of Mykali, you will find Psili Ammos, also within the list of the best beaches in Samos. It takes its name from “fine sand” as it is sandy, with very shallow waters and amazing hues of turquoise. Just like from Mykali beach, you can see Turkey ahead, located less than 2 km opposite.
As you come to Psili Ammos, you may find a salt lake that sometimes hosts beautiful flamingos. The beach is partly organized with sunbeds and umbrellas, and you will find many local taverns. You can access it by car via Pythagoreio as you come from Vathy.
Tip: Attention! There are many beaches by the name of Psili Ammos! This particular beach is located near Mykali Beach.
Pappa Beach
You can find Papa Beach near Heraion, the place dedicated to Goddess Hera, with monuments and temples. It is just 900 meters outside of the town, at a beautiful cove with green and cyan shallow waters. It looks like a tropical oasis surrounded by pine trees. It is “built” amphitheatrically, with great views over the cove, and it has small pebbles mostly.
The beach is organized, with a very popular beach bar serving drinks, refreshments, and snacks. You will find all possible amenities here including umbrellas & sunbeds for rent, and showers and changing rooms for free. You can access it by car, taking the road from Pythagoreio, passing through Heraion.
Lemonakia Beach
Lemonakia is also among the most visited beaches in Samos, situated about 13 km outside of the capital. It is yet another organized beach, with sunbeds and umbrellas for rent by the beach bar. Many people visit the beach to relax and sunbathe or enjoy a swim in its cyan waters.
The shore has soft sand and the scenery around it is lush, as the beach is close to Kokkari, a village full of vegetation and untouched nature. You can access the beach by car easily, or even take the public bus.
Tsamadou Beach
Located very near Kokkari and Lemonakia beach, Tsamadou is among the most popular beaches in Samos. The pebbly beach is beautiful and surrounded by a natural landscape, although it is also organized with sunbeds and umbrellas.
You will find all the amenities here, as well as taverns with fresh food along the way to the beach.
You can access Tsamadou by parking on the main road and taking a path on foot. As you descend, you will find the organized part on the left and the nudist, mode secluded part on your right.
Potami Beach
Potami is a long pebbly shore on the northeastern part of the island, about 34 km from the capital. Its crystalline waters and green surroundings make it a top destination for a day at the beach.
It is an organized beach with a beach bar, sunbeds, and umbrellas, amidst a thick forest of pine trees that almost reaches the shore.
You can access the beach via Karlovasi, about 2 km away, near the monastery of Agios Ioannis.
Kokkari Beach
Kokkari is perhaps the most popular beach in Samos with one of the most virgin surroundings. It is located north of Kokkari village and it is well-organized. It gets quite crowded during the high summer season, but at least it’s long and wide enough to find room.
The pebbly shore is about a kilometer long and it’s a popular spot for lovers of windsurfing, as there are often waves here. You will find beach bars, cafes, and restaurants on-site, offering food and drinks, as well as umbrellas and sunbeds to relax and bask in the sun. There’s even a surf school operating here for those eager to try new water sports experiences.
You can get to Kokkari Beach by car or by public bus. You can even find a Taxi station there. There is free parking available.
Megalo Seitani Beach
Megalo Seitani looks like a beach you could find in Seychelles, with fine white sand and the most turquoise waters. Its unspoiled and virgin natural beauty attracts nature lovers who wish to explore the beach, the canyon, and the forested surroundings.
The beach is almost half a kilometer long, with some natural shade. You will mostly find waves here as it is not so well-protected. It’s unorganized and you will need to bring your own stuff if you plan to spend the day. You could also do some free camping, as long as you respect nature. The water is cold and full of fish and the seabed is ideal for snorkeling or scuba diving.
To get to Megalo Seitani, you would have to hike for about an hour, by taking the path from the paved road to Potami beach, crossing a dirt road, and then continuing for about 3 kilometers.
Mikro Seitani Beach
Mikro Seitani is perhaps the most isolated beach and the whole island. It is however considered one of the best beaches in Samos thanks to its wild beauty and imposing surroundings. It is a place protected by Natura 2000, as it hosts some Monachus-Monachus seals.
It is located near Megalo Seitani, but it’s a smaller partly sandy, and partly pebbly cove, protected by sharp cliffs and a canyon behind, known as Kakoperato. The beach is just 60 meters in length and 25 meters in width, but it is not crowded. Nature lovers and hiking enthusiasts come here to enjoy nature, often skinny-dipping, although the beach is only unofficially nudist.
To get to Mikro Seitani, you will have to walk for at least 2 km from Megalo Seitani. The good thing is that you can do wild camping here to enjoy nature. You will find no amenities here whatsoever, so be prepared and bring enough water and something to eat.
