Serifos is an island rich in history and tradition, and an upcoming destination in the Cyclades. Its proximity to Athens makes it very popular and on top of many visitors’ bucket lists, as it takes only 2 and a half hours to get there from the port of Athens.

Livadakia is one of the best beaches in Serifos, situated just 5 km from Chora, overlooking part of the island of Sifnos. It’s situated less than 1 km from Livadi, so it’s convenient to get there, whether by car or on foot.

The shore is sandy, with crystalline waters. You will find plenty of trees for shade, but also amenities such as umbrellas and sunbeds, a snack bar, and a taverna to eat.

Vagia is a beautiful beach in Serifos with azure waters, nestled among the wild beauty. It’s mostly sandy, with thick sand onshore and colorful pebbles inside the seabed, which is ideal for snorkeling.

You can get there by car, and it is about 11 km from Chora. There are some umbrellas and sunbeds of a beach bar with snacks and drinks, but there are not enough, so bring your own to avoid any mishap.

Perhaps one of the largest beaches in Serifos, Ganema is a long, partly sandy coast with amazing mirror-like waters. The long beach is separated into two parts, one of which is pebbly but very protected when strong winds blow. Generally, you will find ample space to put your stuff and a lot of shade thanks to the trees.

You can get there by car as there is road access, but keep in mind that the road that passes through Ganema village is not recommended or well-maintained. You will surely find parking space as there is a parking lot, and a tavern for snacks, coffee, or lunch.

On your road towards Mega Livadi, you will find the bay of Koutalas, another popular beach in Serifos. The shore is partly pebbly and partly sandy, with plenty of natural shade from trees and clean waters.

 It is also protected from the winds and has a good parking space. There are no umbrellas or sunbeds but you can find snacks and drinks at the nearby tavern.

Maliadiko is a virgin, unorganized beach, situated 11 km outside of Serifos, near Koutalas beach. It’s a protected sandy and pebbly bay, ideal for free campers and nature enthusiasts. This beach is also nudist-friendly. You will find no amenities whatsoever, so bring your own. There is some natural shade from the trees.

There’s no easy access, as you have to drive a 500-meter-dirt road and a plateau where you can park and then hike to the shore. You can reach the beach within 5 minutes via a 250-meter path.

Mega Livadi is a quite popular beach in Serifos, located 11 km away from Chora. You can access it by car by following the road either from Chora or from the south. The bay is well protected from the winds but it is very narrow and doesn’t have a lot of free space. The sand is somewhat muddy and thick and looks almost black.

The waters are shallow, crystal clear, and very inviting, and so is the thick shade from the many trees. You can find a tavern here to eat or drink. The beach is ideal for sunset hours, as it has magnificent views of the setting sun. If you visit it, don’t miss the old mines nearby, as well as the old Headquarters, a deserted neoclassical building.

You can find Agios Sostis halfway through Avlomonas and Psili Ammos. You can access the place by car, park it, and then walk for about 5 minutes via a 500-meter path. It is a bad dirt road, so no vehicle is recommended.

Platys Gialos is a wonderful beach in Serifos, situated 12 km outside of Chora, between the Monastery of Taxiarches and the Church of Panagia Skopiani.

You can get there by road and enjoy a wonderful mostly sandy bay of crystal blue waters. There are no umbrellas but there is ample shade thanks to the trees, and you can grab something to eat at a tavern.

Sykamia is a sandy shore, one of the best beaches in Serifos, with lovely waters, some small pebbles here and there, and lots of trees for shade. It is located 10 km outside of Chora, in the village of Sykamia.

You can get there by car by following the road between the villages of Panagia and Pyrgos. You won’t find any umbrellas there, but there is a tavern to snack on or eat local delicacies.

Kalo Ampeli is a beach of immense beauty inaccessible to large crowds and hence quiet and isolated. The secret gulfs of Kalo Ampeli are rocky, but the shore itself is sandy and smooth. There is no tree for shade whatsoever, and no umbrellas, as it’s not organized, so bring your own, along with snacks and water to spend the day.

You can find the beach 8 km outside of Chora, by following the road of Ramos village towards the beaches Vagia, Ganema, and Koutalas. You will find a crossroad with a sign and you will then have to leave your vehicle and go down a path for about 20 minutes.

Lia is another secluded and nudist beach on the island, perfect for naturalists. It is mostly pebbly, with no natural shade whatsoever and no amenities, so come prepared with your own stuff.

You will find Lia Beach 7 km outside of Chora if you pass Livadi towards the west. You will take the road to Psili Ammos but once you find the sign for Agios Sostis and then Lia Beach. Leave your car and walk for about 10 minutes to find the pristine shore.

Near Psili Ammos beach you will find Agios Ioannis (also known as Ai Giannis beach.) You will park on the side of the road to Kallitsos village and then walk for 5 minutes down some steps to the shore. You will find a beautiful, partly sandy, and partly pebbly shore with tamarisk trees for shade and amazing turquoise shallow waters.

Again, you will need to bring your own equipment or groceries, because the beach is virgin and unorganized.

Last but not least on the list of top beaches in Serifos is Avlomonas, which is situated right on the port. It is practically the other end of Livadi beach, as it shares the same long sandy shore. You will find plenty of shade from trees, but also umbrellas and sunbeds to lounge and spend the day. There is also a snack bar and various tavernas to enjoy local food.

The waters are shallow and clean, and there is also disabled access. You can practically get to the beach by walking about 200 meters from the port, or simply take the road from Chora by car.
